    Sponge Iron Specification (composition)

    Sponge Iron Supplier

The steel industry can be considered as one of the important foundations of every country’s economy. Some researchers even consider the per capita consumption of steel as an indicator for assessing the industrialization of a country.

Today in the world, steel plays a very important role in the manufacturing and industrial sectors. In addition, the steel industry plays a key role in the national economy and the welfare of society. So, the development of this industry, as an effective factor, will be resulted in the development of the other sectors of economy, industry, science and social.

The rapid expansion of high-power EAFs (Electric Arc Furnace) has increased the interest to use DRI as a great option for the continuous charging of electric furnaces in developed countries.

Sponge iron is a valuable source of iron for the production of high-quality steel. With the Direct Reduction technology that has been developed considerably in recent years, sponge iron melting in electric arc furnaces has more qualitative advantages than scrap metal smelting for steel making. Some of the benefits include:

    • More specific chemical composition
    • Low levels of impurities (gangue, sulfur, and phosphate)
    • The impossibility of using cheap scrap
    • Easy storage and shipment
    • Continuous automatic charging
    • Predictable price structure
    • Fixed power of input electricity

Relying on the knowledge, valuable experience and history, and empowerment of our team, we, Arij Global Trading Co. are supplying our high-quality gas-based DRI to the far destinations in containerized and bulk shipment.

As a supplier of gas-based Sponge Iron with a great history and experience, we also provide cost-effective solutions for the shipment to our customers in complete accordance with their needs, which ultimately fulfills the goal of providing satisfying service.

    High Carbon grade

High-carbon Sponge iron is an alternative to scrap in EAF, as it is chemically homogeneous, free of harmful or redundant elements, and requires less coke and secondary metallurgical operations. Due to the specific combination of DRI, it is possible to accurately predict the final analysis of steel in continuous feeding with sponge iron. In EAF-based processes, also using DRI cause to reduce the amount of electricity consumed by 15 kWh/MT, and the consumption of electrode and refractory will be reduced.

    Low Carbon Grade

The low-carbon DRI is used in the induction furnaces up to 50% in the furnace feeding regime as a replacement of the scrap, depending on the production (normal or alloy steel). Moreover, If the decarbonization process takes place, using more percentage of DRI in the furnace feed regime will be possible.
